Discover how an unconventional spring break in Sin City turned into a family adventure filled with unexpected delights.

A Day in the Life of a Modern Family in Las Vegas

My spring break began rather unexpectedly when I spotted my seven-year-old son, grinning ear to ear, performing the Griddy dance while waving $700 cash. It was barely past nine in the morning and we were high above the Las Vegas strip—a place where many would envision wild nights and adult adventures, not a family retreat.

Why Vegas? The Phish Factor

The answer to this peculiar location choice lies with our love for music. My husband is an ardent fan of Phish, the legendary jam band that was set to perform at The Sphere, Las Vegas’s newest entertainment hotspot. This venue, known for hosting renowned acts like U2, promised a unique experience unlike anything we could find elsewhere.

Embracing Sin City with Kids

  • Stay at the Four Seasons Las Vegas: Our choice to stay here provided a tranquil escape from the chaos of the Strip, offering amenities like teepees in our suite and Yoto players that kept my kids entertained without screens.
  • Dine at SW Steakhouse and Sadelle’s: We indulged in dinner theater and brunch extravaganzas. The enchanting puppet shows at SW Steakhouse were a hit with the children, while Sadelle’s offered generous portions and delightful views of the Bellagio’s flower exhibits.

Exploring Beyond Casinos

Arte Museum: A Digital Wonderland

The Arte Museum offered an immersive digital experience far removed from the typical Vegas attractions. With installations that blend nature and technology, it became a favorite haunt for our family, especially its interactive features where children could create virtual art.

Touring Allegiant Stadium

As avid sports fans, we couldn’t miss visiting the modern marvel of Allegiant Stadium. The tour revealed luxurious VIP areas and even included a surprise hologram that left us both thrilled and slightly unnerved—a true Vegas experience.

Affording Some Me-Time

Hiring Nannies & Grannies for Quality Time

The Four Seasons’s babysitting service, Nannys & Grannys, provided us with the perfect opportunity to enjoy a night out. Our sitter Savannah became an instant hit with my daughter, while we enjoyed a sophisticated cocktail at The Vault—a speakeasy hidden behind an unassuming gold door.
